Terri Couts, RN serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Information Officer at The Guthrie Clinic headquartered in Pennsylvania. Terri is a pivotal force in the integrated health system that serves rural communities in New York and Pennsylvania. Her leadership in the Innovation Pillar of the strategic plan is redefining care models through advanced technology, positioning The Guthrie Clinic as a leader in healthcare excellence.
Over the last 8 years serving at The Guthrie Clinic, the integrated health system has been on a transformative journey with Terri Couts, an impassioned leader and trailblazer in healthcare informatics. With a solid foundation as a pediatric, neonatal, and open-heart nurse, Terri expertly combines her clinical experience with a deep understanding of technology's role in healthcare. She holds a board certification in nursing informatics from ANA and a Master's in Healthcare Administration.
With two decades of nursing practice and current board membership with CHIME, as well as distinction as a CDH-E, and CHCIO, Terri's unique insights enable her to seamlessly connect clinical practice with healthcare informatics. She advocates tirelessly for a unified "one-patient one record" system.
Terri's outstanding contributions have garnered recognition and accolades. Under her guidance, Guthrie achieved STARS 10 status for the fourth consecutive year, ranking among the top 4% of Epic users worldwide. In 2023, she was named a Top Innovator by Modern Healthcare, Innovatory of the Year by CHIME, and received the Health Technology Excellence Award from ECRI.
