Eligibility: Current CHIME members and their direct reports who have been employed at the same organization for at least the last two consecutive years (exhibiting consistency and dedication).
Award: $5,000 toward any educational program that furthers the applicant’s leadership skills
The John Glaser Scholarship was created as a testament to John’s unique vision of quality educational and networking opportunities for healthcare CIOs. CHIME Members who seek to further their professional leadership skills should apply, but are also encouraged to nominate dedicated, high achieving staff members who show enthusiasm for the field and have great potential for advancement. Applicants are eligible to receive one $5,000 scholarship to be used between October 1, 2023 – September 30, 2024
MATERIALS REQUIRED
- Essay: Candidates must demonstrate their interest by submitting an essay. The essay should be completed in several parts, each of which should be between 500 -1,000 words.
Part A: This portion of the essay should address the candidate’s vision and goals as a future healthcare IT leader, how they have demonstrated leadership within their organization, and how this scholarship will enhance their ability to improve their healthcare IT leadership skills.
Part B: In this section, candidates should identify the top three issues/challenges that he/she believes CIOs/Digital Health Executives will face in the future and how they might address them If applicable, candidates should also address any financial challenges they have at their organization that prohibits them from otherwise participating in leadership development activities.
Part C: Scholarship candidates must also provide information on what programs they would like to attend with the scholarship money, and how they would benefit from attending.
- Letter of Recommendation: If the candidate is not a CHIME Member, they must submit a letter or recommendation the letter must come from the CHIME Member to whom they report. (The letter should support the applicant’s attendance at the event and explain why their participation would be beneficial to the candidate and their organization. The letter should also support the fact that applicant is either on a CIO career path, or if they are a CIO, that attendance at the event is important to their professional development. Any issues relating to financial need should also be explained.)
- Resume: Scholarship candidates should provide a current resume highlighting achievements of exhibited leadership or leadership potential in the field of healthcare IT.
