Clearsense and Nordic Announce Strategic Collaboration to Deliver Turnkey Application Portfolio Management for Health Systems

NASHVILLE, TN — June 23, 2025Clearsense®, a cloud-based data enablement platform company, and Nordic®, a global healthcare consulting firm, today announced a strategic collaboration to offer the industry’s only end-to-end solution for Application Portfolio Management (APM) – a strategy to assess, prioritize, and eliminate redundant or outdated software applications.

APM has become a critical lever for health systems navigating shrinking margins, rising operational demands, and growing scrutiny over operating expenses. Over the past decade, digital transformation and consolidation have left many health systems managing hundreds—and often thousands—of applications. According to Gartner, an estimated 20 to 30 percent of IT systems in merged health systems are duplicative or obsolete, which can drain resources, introduce cybersecurity risks, and slow innovation. Yet, most organizations lack the bandwidth, governance, or infrastructure to address this sprawl effectively.

“Health systems are under intense pressure to do more with less while preparing for a more connected, AI-driven future,” said Jason Rose, CEO of Clearsense. “APM is a proven way to unlock immediate savings and modernize infrastructure—but many organizations stall out due to limited internal bandwidth and the complexity of retiring systems at scale. Our collaboration with Nordic removes those barriers, offering a fast, structured, and scalable path forward.”

The Clearsense-Nordic partnership is specifically designed for medium- to large-sized healthcare systems with complex IT environments. Nordic brings deep advisory expertise and a managed service approach to APM, providing application rationalization, cross-functional governance, and repeatable decommissioning processes. Clearsense complements this with its secure, scalable 1Clearsense data enablement platform, which automates the extraction, migration, and active archiving of data while maintaining real-time, unified access for operational and finance users.

“Think of it like an assembly line: Nordic helps set up and manage the processes, while Clearsense ensures every part of the system is safely retired and the data remains accessible,” said Steve Eckert, Chief Growth Officer of Nordic. “It’s a true turnkey mode that delivers immediate and sustained return on investment while creating the foundation for long-term innovation. As we continue to partner with healthcare organizations on modernizing their IT systems, APM is a critical piece of the puzzle that needs to be addressed.”

Together, Clearsense and Nordic deliver an end-to-end APM solution that spans strategy, execution, and ongoing access to critical data. The collaboration enables health systems to reduce costs, improve clinical and operational efficiency, and build the infrastructure required to support modern analytics and AI-driven innovation. The impact of strategic APM was recently validated in a KLAS Emerging Insights Case Study, which highlighted Clearsense’s role in powering the largest successful application rationalization and active archiving initiative in U.S. healthcare – delivering more than $65 million in annual savings to date.

Health systems interested in exploring the benefits of APM can take advantage of a low-cost assessment that offers a high-level view of potential cost savings and operational gains. Designed to deliver insights quickly and with minimal disruption, the assessment empowers organizations to make informed decisions and outlines a clear path forward.
