CHIME Announces Incoming Board Members and 2025-2026 Board Officers

Ann Arbor, MI, October 9, 2024 – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) proudly announces the appointment of four (4) new members to the CHIME Board of Trustees, effective January 2025. This dynamic group of leaders, comprised of prominent digital health and business experts, will play a pivotal role in guiding CHIME through continued innovation and transformation in the healthcare industry.


CHIME Board of Trustees Chair, Scott MacLean, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at MedStar Health expressed enthusiasm for the future under the guidance of the new board members. “Collectively, the board members include innovative and influential leaders in the digital health industry, bringing independent and diverse perspectives that will strengthen CHIME’s strategic oversight,” said MacLean. “These elections are member-driven, reflecting CHIME's commitment to inclusivity and democratic representation. Our Board members have consistently helped us stay ahead of the curve, leading from the front, and these new appointees will undoubtedly carry that momentum forward.”


New members appointed to the CHIME Board of Trustees include:


  • Shakeeb Akhter, CHCIO, CDH-E, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
  • Zafar Chaudry, MD, Senior Vice President, Chief Digital Officer and Chief AI and Information Officer, Seattle Children’s
  • Terri Ripley, PMP, CHCIO, CDH-E, Chief Information Officer, OrthoVirginia


Reflecting on his appointment, Shakeeb Akhter shared his enthusiasm for the future of healthcare innovation, stating, “I am deeply honored to be elected to the CHIME Board of Trustees and grateful for the opportunity to represent Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as I work alongside such talented and dedicated healthcare technology leaders. I look forward to collaborating with the Board, our members, and our Foundation member partners to shape the future of technology in healthcare, drive innovation, and continue to develop the next generation of healthcare technology leaders. Thanks to our members for entrusting me with this responsibility, I look forward to fostering a community that propels healthcare forward for the benefit of patients and clinicians alike.”


In accepting his new role, Dr. Zafar Chaudry stated, "I am deeply honored, thankful, and humbled to be elected to the CHIME Board of Trustees. I am excited to collaborate with my fellow Board members, colleagues, and the incredible CHIME team to continue to advance CHIME's mission of serving the healthcare community. I look forward to learning from the diverse perspectives of our members, and together, building upon CHIME’s strong foundation to create an even brighter future for healthcare leaders."


Similarly, Terri Ripley shared her excitement, saying, “I am deeply honored to join the CHIME Board of Trustees at such an exciting time for healthcare innovation. The challenges we face in digital health require us to collaborate and think creatively to drive meaningful change. I look forward to working with my fellow Board members and CHIME’s incredible community to help advance technology’s role in improving patient care and operational excellence across the healthcare industry.”


Beginning January 1, 2025, the new CHIME Foundation Board Director is:


  • Michael Blumental, Chief Strategy Officer, Hyro


Blumental expressed her enthusiasm for the new role, commenting, “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to join the CHIME Foundation Board of Directors and work alongside such an inspiring group of leaders, especially at a time when technology is evolving so rapidly. With my background in AI and emerging technologies, I look forward to contributing to the critical work of advancing access to care and addressing workforce capacity challenges. I’m committed to bringing energy, thought leadership, and a passion for innovation while also advocating for initiatives that empower all voices within our community.”


In addition, CHIME is pleased to announce the 2025 and 2026 CHIME Board of Trustees Officers.


Beginning January 1, 2025, the new CHIME Board of Trustees Officers are:


  • Tressa Springmann (Chairperson) CHCIO, FCHIME, LCHIME, CDH-E, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer and Chief Information Officer at LifeBridge Health
  • Terri Couts (Treasurer) CHCIO, CDH-E, Chief Digital Officer at The Guthrie Clinic
  • Daniel Barchi (Secretary) CHCIO, LCHIME, CDH-E, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at CommonSpirit Health


Starting January 1, 2026, the new CHIME Board of Trustees Officers will be:


  • Jonathan L. Manis, (Chairperson) CHCIO, CDH-E, BS, MS, MBA, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at CHRISTUS Health
  • Saad Chaudhry (Treasurer) M.Sc., M.PM, CHCIO, CDH-E, Chief Digital Officer at SSM Health
  • Linda Stevenson (Secretary) MBA, PMP, CHCIO, CDH-E, Chief Information Officer at Fisher-Titus Medical Center
