An interconnected healthcare universe where information silos are shattered and where all stakeholders aspire to a higher purpose: improving patient care.
Over 25% of new prescriptions are never picked up by patients due to high drug cost, clinical concerns, or procrastination. DrFirst, the leader in Medication Management, developed the first and only prescription reminder sent within minutes of the electronic prescription RxInform triggers an SMS text message to patients immediately after their prescriptions are sent by the health system to the pharmacy. This enables patients to review their prescriptions prior to arriving at the pharmacy, while offering price comparison, savings options, and educational information. This is at no additional cost to the health system. Multiple studies across dozens of hospitals have shown that RxInform can reduce new prescription abandonment by 20-30%, and can help reduce readmissions.
RxInform is integrated via an event-driven, service-oriented architecture (SOA) from Epic, coupled with supporting APIs to retrieve the details required to message the patient. If the patient elects, they may also choose to save the prescription details in DrFirst Huddle, a patient-centric native application for long-term health record storage. Huddle further allows patients to provide their MyChart credentials to retrieve other available data via FHIR from your facility.
RxInform reduces prescription abandonment, a key driver of readmissions. DrFirst offers RxInform at no cost to CHIME, AEHIA, AEHIS, and AEHIT members through the CHIME Tech Cooperative Member Services Program (available in the Epic App Orchard). DrFirst will also donate $1,000 to the CHIME Education Foundation for each IDN that activates the RxInform functionality (to end on September 9, 2021). Read the press release.
