How to Leverage Application Portfolio Optimization to Reduce IT Costs, Complexity, and Risks
As the application landscape inevitably grows more complex and cost pressures continue to rise, it is imperative for IT leadership to prioritize on Application Portfolio Optimization (APO) as a strategic initiative. APO is a set of application cost, count, and risk reduction activities to reduce operational spend and application portfolio complexity. APO is not new to IT, but implementing it well and sustaining this practice past the initial exercise can be challenging for organizations. Mount Sinai Health System has embarked on their APO journey as part of the overall Application Portfolio Management (APM) initiative and would like to share our experiences on the approach, challenges, success criteria, value, and governance process to maintain this effort.
