We would like to understand the drivers behind and barriers to successful adoption and implementation of communication and collaboration solutions. For the purposes of this study, a communication and collaboration platform is defined as a secure, scalable and integrated communication system that enables physicians, clinicians and staff, both inside and outside the hospital, to deliver quality care across the patients’ healthcare experience. The platform provides a context and workflow engine, real-time care team assignment information, analytics and reporting, system management, and integration with clinical systems/EHRs. Components may include secure texting, hands-free calling, patient alarm management software, and nurse rounding software.
Our objectives for the focus group include:
- To learn where CIOs turn for information on C&C platforms
- To identify the pain points that drive CIOs to consider C&C
- To understand what makes a CIO prefer one C&C platform over another
- To study the decision-making process behind a purchase, including interaction with and influence of clinical leadership
