Essential Considerations When Developing an Integration Strategy for Healthcare
Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) have become a regular occurrence in the healthcare space, as healthcare systems seek to make themselves more available to patients. However, despite the frequency with which these occur, cybersecurity has never been a core focus during the process. Frequently, the project is presented to security teams after the fact, with the expectation that any security adjustments will then be made. Entering into these projects without a clear understanding of why convergence puts systems at increased risk or an established plan to securely integrate networks can leave health providers vulnerable to cyberattacks. The moment an M&A deal is finalized, IT teams must pinpoint areas of vulnerability, and integrate existing strategies and tools to ensure defense across the merged networks.
