Patient Identity Management: Innovation in Solving Healthcare’s Identity Crisis
Nearly 20% of all records are duplicated within a typical health system—risking patient safety and driving up costs to clean them up–$1,200 per record. Healthcare’s identity crisis persists despite enterprise master patient indexes (EMPI) and advances in patient matching technology, including within EHR systems.
This latent yet significant challenge is getting increased attention in the industry and among regulators, particularly by HHS and ONC as they implement the 21st Century Cures Act. Through advances in referential matching and cloud-based technology, there is an opportunity to improve interoperability, cost efficiency, and patient matching accuracy to 98%+.
This focus group will bring together health systems technology leaders to discuss the current state of identity management strategies and technologies, as well as opportunities to improve and innovate within key provider workflows, such as patient scheduling and registration and health information management.
- Insight on how health systems and provider organizations are managing patient identity – including patient matching and master person index / data management
- Insight on how third party data and referential matching technology can improve patient matching accuracy
- Insight on how provider organizations can improve key workflows in patient scheduling and registration and health information management to improve cost and patient identity management effectiveness.
