Opening Keynote | October 28, 2021
Nick is a world-renowned innovation, and technology thought–leader. As an innovator, he has been awarded over 40 patents for technologies that range from one of the world’s smallest medical implants to one of the first wearable technologies. As the CEO of his consulting firm, Leader Logic Nick serves some of the top healthcare brands in the world to help them drive scalable growth and future readiness. Additionally, Nick serves as the Chief Innovation Officer for one of the largest medical schools in the country, where he also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Health Sciences. Nick is a Director of the Disruption Expo and manages their newly established AI lab. Nick received his Doctorate of Humane Letters (Hon.) for his contributions to healthcare innovation.
Healthcare is the subject of massive disruption. This disruption includes significant changes in patient consumerism, enabling technologies, connection architecture, and new value/economic models. These changes mandate that healthcare organizations leverage new strategies and technologies. The good news is that the healthcare industry can compete, if they apply the proven principles that ensure rapid innovation and patient elation. In this powerful presentation, world- renowned innovation and healthcare futurist, Nick Webb will provide the following key takeaways:
- The Three Big Disruptors in healthcare, and what to do about them
- Why Technology Executives have become the new Enterprise Superstars
- The massive shift from Patient Experience (PX) to Human Experience (HX) design
- The future of Connection Architecture, AI, Zero UI and Enabling Technologies
- The importance of Technology Partnerships and Future-casting
- How organizations can make the leap from Latency to Speed, Innovation and Agility
- The future outlook for technology leaders in a time of rapid change – the good news
Mid-Week Keynote: Leadership from the Edge | October 29, 2021
Low-Code, A Rapid Application Development Experience
This presentation describes Denver Health CIO Chuck Scully’s recent experience volunteering at two mass vaccination sites and the mobile app he built with Low-Code in just five hours to manage teams of volunteers. He will discuss his eight hours of API, FHIR and JSON research and successful experiment (built in two hours with Low-Code) that interacts with a FHIR data source.
Transform Patient Experience and Identification with Facial Recognition
An EHR survey of over 30,000 physicians from 180 organizations in nine states found dramatic difference in the physician experiences between organizations using the same EHR. What separates the successful from the unsuccessful? Leadership that plays offense. Successful organizations have leaders who are aggressively solving the problems that their clinicians face. These leaders ensure that clinicians are not just given software but are prepared to use it. They build strong relationships with department leaders to deeply understand and quickly meet departmental needs. They help clinicians take control of their own success. What’s more, these leaders do not spend more on their EHR for this success.
Fostering Pediatric Digital Health Innovation
In 2020, children’s digital health innovation funding received $118 million compared to the $21.6 billion invested in solutions for the rest of the population. This disparity points to the need for more dedicated innovation in the pediatric space and increased support given to those startups trying to bring new solutions to market for kids. The Bear Institute, with partnership from Children’s National Hospital and Cerner Corporation, is hosting the first annual Bear Institute PACK (Pediatric Accelerator Challenge for Kids; https://www.bearinstitutepack.org). Bear Institute PACK is an event for the entire pediatric healthcare community. It focuses on bringing together entrepreneurs, pediatric healthcare providers and pediatric hospital administrators, and investors from around the country to help close the immense innovation gap in children’s digital health. We will explore the outcomes of the first event and how the event will continue to benefit the pediatric healthcare community.
A HIT Leader’s Hippocratic Oath to Protect PHI
Like clinicians, healthcare CIOs, CISOs and their teams play a critical role in delivering quality patient care. If Protected Health Information (PHI) is compromised in any way, it puts patient safety at risk. The challenge of keeping PHI and other healthcare data secure has never been greater or more critical. Traditional security strategies and solutions are built to defend against perimeter attacks but are not designed to identify and manage the risk to PHI before an attack occurs. But what if there was a way to identify risk to PHI as soon as it occurs? What if you could discover PHI at risk early enough to disarm threats? In this session, veteran healthcare security and IT executive, Arthur (Art) F. Ream III, CISO at Cambridge Health Alliance, will introduce attendees to what a proactive, preemptive approach to protecting PHI looks like. Ream will offer practical steps that IT leaders can take to discover PHI at risk in real-time and positively impact your healthcare organization’s level of patient care.
