Supporting Healthcare IT Leaders Globally
The challenges and opportunities of transforming patient care using the power of IT are the same across the world. CHIME International creates a virtual network for all healthcare IT leaders. We connect professionals and we support their leadership journey with online resources and education.
CHIME offers the only internationally recognised qualification for healthcare IT leaders with the CHIME Healthcare CIO accreditation: International CHCIO. More than 754 healthcare leaders globally are proud to put call themselves CHCIO.

CHIME International leadership training for CNIOs
CHIME International is working with two leading nurse and midwife organisations to deliver digital leadership training to senior nurses and midwives across the UK
Our April and May programmes were postponed during the COVID-19 lockdown and we are now working to find alternative dates when conditions allow for it to be safe to train in-person. Until then, we are working on Ignite our bespoke online educational platform where we are starting the nurse and midwife education programmes.
The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the vital role of nurses at every level of the health and care system. Nurses of all specialisms have shown how resilient, adaptable and courageous they are when caring for their patients and working in dynamic teams. In responding to the pandemic many NHS and care organisations have introduced digital health solutions quickly and effectively to support healthcare professionals and nurses have quickly incorporated new technology into their practice.
CHIME International supports the digital transformation of health and care through leadership training, networks and continuous education. We are thrilled to have these training commissions from Florence Nightingale Foundation and The Burdett Trust. We embrace the opportunity to support our nurses now with our online education platform and eventually with our powerful in-person events.

Late 2020 / early 2021 when conditions allow
CHIME members working outside North America are invited to enroll in the International CHCIO program. International CHCIO is the only global professional accreditation of seniority and experience in health IT leadership.
Developed by CIOs to measure candidate’s understanding and application of health IT leadership skills, CHCIO is a world-renowned professional benchmark. We are proud to see CHIME members with the CHCIO accreditation working in many of the world’s leading healthcare organizations.
Eligible members who enter the program receive CHCIO study materials, access to a practice exam and, when they are ready, an invitation to sit the exam at a local test center or with an online proctor. After successfully challenging the International CHCIO examination, CHIME members can use the post-nominal letters CHCIO for three years.
CHIME members working in countries with a CHIME Chapter are invited to enter the CHCIO program through their Chapter organisation.
2020: Supporting health IT professionals through extraordinary times
CHIME International responded quickly and decisively to the COVID-19 pandemic to help its members around the world. Where in-person events have been cancelled or postponed CHIME has offered online education and networking through Ignite, its digital learning platform. We see the hard work, the sacrifices and the commitment of all our members as they lead their healthcare organizations to care for patients with coronavirus: and we send you our thanks.
A warm welcome to members in Ireland: our newest international chapter
In February CHIME travelled to Dublin to launch its latest international chapter CHIME Ireland with our friends from the Irish Computer Society (ICS) and the Health Informatics Society of Ireland (HISI). After Russ Branzell signed the partnership agreement with Jim Friars, CEO of ICS, the CHIME team presented a taster of CHIME education to the invited guests in a series of seminars throughout the afternoon.
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Boot Camp
CHIME taught senior leaders from Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norwich healthcare organisations in a four-day residential Boot Camp. CHIME staff were joined by local faculty from the UK: Andy Kinnear and Rhidian Hurle, and Liz Johnson from Texas. Boot campers and faculty had a highly successful Boot Camp with plenty of opportunities to network and build new relationships.
Wir haben Prüfungen in deutscher Sprache durchgeführt (We held examinations in the German language)
Our Chapter partner in Germany, AuiG, represents health IT executives from German-speaking countries and worked with CHIME to offer the second International CHCIO examination in the German language supported by the ENTSCHEIDERFABRIK network.
This year’s conference was virtual and attended by Russ Branzell.

“In my experience as a healthcare technology executive, I’ve found immense value in having a trusted and established network of peers. It’s nearly impossible for a single CxO to have all the collective wisdom of every single leader in their region within themselves, especially if your organization has a presence across national boundaries. This experience and set of perspectives that a network of fellow leaders brings, therefore, is immeasurably helpful. In CHIME I’ve found such a global network. One that consists of many hundreds of world-class IT leaders. Furthermore, as an organization, CHIME does an incredible job of being a catalyst for ongoing learning and knowledge-sharing amongst its membership. From certifications to bootcamps to their semi-annual forums, CHIME’s commitment to sharpening the skill-sets of Healthcare IT leadership across the globe is unmatched. As an American executive who is now a CIO on the other side of the world, I consider CHIME and its resources to be one of my primary points of reference for best practices and always encourage my staff to get involved.”
