Eligibility: Current CHIME members
Award: Full registration scholarship for a CHIME member to attend the Fall CIO Forum
The CIO Forum Scholarship was created to promote leadership education and development to IT professionals in the healthcare industry. The scholarship will provide funding for a CHIME member to attend the Fall CIO Forum.
Applicants for the scholarships must be current CHIME members. The winner will receive complimentary registration to the Forum.
Neal L. Patterson Community and Rural Hospital Scholarship
In 2017, Cerner worked with CHIME to develop the Neal L. Patterson Community and Rural Hospital Scholarship. This endowed scholarship is intended for CIOs who’ve made a significant impact in community and rural hospitals and demonstrated exceptional dedication to improving the lives of the people they serve.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

- Must be a current CHIME member
Materials Required
1. Essay: Scholarship candidates must demonstrate their interest by submitting an essay. The essay should be
no longer than 1,000 words.
PART A: This part of the essay should address the candidate’s vision and goals as a healthcare IT leader and how they have demonstrated leadership in their organization.
PART B: This part of the essay should address how this scholarship and attendance at the Fall CIO Forum will enhance the candidate’s ability to improve their healthcare IT leadership skills and enhance their current position as a CIO. Also in this section of the essay, if the candidate’s organization has limited resources for funding staff development, please include an explanation of those issues and how the scholarship would help them achieve their staff development goals.
2. Resume: Scholarship candidates should provide a current resume highlighting their experience
and/or achievements in the healthcare IT field.
