With a B.S. in Hospitality Administration and a Master’s in Business, Sarah began her career in the hotel and casino industry in Las Vegas, NV, before making the purposeful decision to move into the healthcare industry. Her first 5 years in healthcare were at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV. Immediately following, she began her ten-year career with HCA (Hospital Corporation of America). Promoted three times in her ten-year tenure with HCA, culminating in a Division CIO position, Sarah’s contributions centered on leading the development and delivery of IT in a shared service model along with scalable operational programs and development activities.
Currently, Sarah serves as the Vice President of IT Change Management for (DMG) DaVita Medical Group. DaVita Medical Group has operations in 6 states serving over 1.2M patients. DMG has been committed to developing innovative models of healthcare delivery that improve their patients’ quality of life while containing healthcare costs. Their strength is in their steadfast commitment to their guiding principle of coordinated care. Their physicians strive daily to bring the benefits of coordinated care to patients who represent the diversity of cultures, socioeconomic groups, ages, and health statuses in the communities they serve.
She is most proud that her work focuses on building long-lasting, loyal relationships across the continuum, resulting in collaborative strategies to meet diverse organizational needs, productivity gains, and the use of technology to advance teammate engagement resulting in a committed and dedicated workforce. Her ability to coordinate teams of technology experts, strategic business partners, physicians, and clinicians, has enabled her to repeatedly deliver programs, services, and tailored solutions in the healthcare setting.
An active member of CHIME as a Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO), faculty member, and Fellow, Sarah is also the current Vice President of Advocacy for the Southern California chapter of HIMSS. Sarah regularly publishes industry relevant content on her website at www.conciergeleadership.com and is the host of the HIMSS SoCal Podcast featuring top HIT and leadership topics with keynote guests. She also volunteers her time as a board member with the Los Angeles Children’s Bureau, is a Certified Professional Coach, and is currently enrolled in the UCLA Extension program, seeking a certification in Healthcare Administration. She is an avid uba diver with a passion for conservation.
