ABOUT CHIME


The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) is an executive organization dedicated to serving chief information officers (CIOs), chief medical information officers (CMIOs), chief nursing information officers (CNIOs), chief innovation officers (CIOs), chief digital officers (CDOs) and other senior healthcare IT leaders. With more than 3,000 individual members in 58 countries and two U.S. territories and over 180 CHIME Foundation healthcare IT business and professional service firm members, CHIME and its three associations provide a highly interactive, trusted environment enabling senior professional and industry leaders to collaborate, exchange best practices, address professional development needs, and advocate for the effective use of information management to improve the health and care in the communities they serve.

1992

Formation announced at CIO session preceding the HIMSS conference, with HIMSS’ sanctioning; membership to be qualified: Highest ranking IT executive of a provider organization CHIME offers the Information Management Executive series bi-annually, which extended though the end of the decade and graduated nearly 1,000 participants In CHIME’s first year, 192 CIOs became charter members under the guidance of the founding chair, John Glaser, PhD

1992

CHIME staff initially provided by Center for Healthcare Information Management (CHIM); transitioned to a contract for services with former CHIME staff employed by Association Management Group (AMG) in Ann Arbor, MI

1994

CHIME Foundation formed as an independent, non-profit corporate membership organization; Board of CIOs and Corporate Reps, also members of CHIME Board

1995

CHIME establishes formal collaboration agreement with HIMSS

2003

CHIME launches the Healthcare CIO Boot Camp™ program

2005

CHIME membership reaches 1,000 members

2007

CHIME establishes the CHIME Education Foundation to expand its scholarship support to CHIME members and their direct reports

2008

CHIME establishes staff/office in D.C. area reflecting Board initiative to formalize CHIME’s Advocacy function

2012

CHIME marks 20th anniversary

2014

CHIME forms AEHIS, AEHADA (formerly AEHIA), and AEHIT

2015

- CHIME Technologies formed - “Exceptional Leaders Transforming Health and Care” vision statement unveiled - CHIME International officially launches with International Ambassadors

2017

- CHIME marks 25th anniversary - CHIME membership reaches 2,500 members - CHIME International opens its first International Chapter in India

2018

CHIME Foundation celebrates 25th Anniversary

2022

CHIME Celebrates its 30th Anniversary CHIME International celebrates 849 International Members, 14 Chapters in 54 countries
